I’ve been devouring the Misadventures book series lately and with good reason. They are fantastic books and also fantastically risque romance novels (aka smut novels, but seriously there’s no shame in here). Let’s check out the highlights of this awesome series!
The Misadventures Book Series – Risque Romance Novels
This Misadventures series currently consists of 33 books. This unique series features multiple writers (some of the hottest in the genre) and the common theme of the books are that they feature risque or more taboo acts within their stories. If reading about the sexually adventurous isn’t in your wheelhouse, these aren’t for you. If you enjoy these acts or find them titillating, definitely read the books in this series.
Many border on erotica, given the variety of acts that are written within their pages, but I’d call them risque romances first. They are plot driven books, heavy on the sex scenes. If you are looking for smut novels, these are well written, pleasurable, and lusty books that just might get your motor running.
Let’s get into the reviews of the best of the Misadventures book series!
PS – There is no kink shaming here or shaming when I say smut books. I love romance novels, read them, and will continue to do so as long as they are keeping me entertained. Come along for the ride!

The Misadventures Book Series Reviews
Warning: These books are not for those under the age of 18 and many contain taboo sexual acts that might be offensive to some. Everything I’ve read does contain consensual acts and promotes condom use between sex partners. That’s a huge plus in modern romance books.

Misadventures on the Night Shift
by Lauren Rowe

My dear friends, everything about this story speaks to me in the perfect fantasy kind of way. First, we start with poor, dear Abby, a woman who is working the night shift at a fancy hotel, because she has time to study for law school during her shift. Until in walks the hottest rock star in the country, Lucas Ford, who is fresh off a concert where things didn’t go well. They get into a bit of a flirtatious argument and things ensue. And oh boy, do things ensue.
Abby is a woman who has been taught to be ashamed of her voracious, sexual appetite and proclivities. Now, she’s done a few things that aren’t awesome, just like anyone. However, she starts to learn that she’s not messed up in any way for her personal kinks. And she becomes Lucas’s muse.
This book was incredibly well written with one of the best rock star and normal person romances I’ve read. Lucas encourages Abby to follow her dreams and even follows up his encouragement with concrete action. I love that Abby does follow her dreams, as so many of us are unable to do with such a splash. I love that Abby is celebrated as an amazing person who is also a sexual being and that it is all explored without shame. When I closed this book, I felt brain satisfaction with the writing, the dialogue, and the whole story. There’s not a thing I wished was different.

Misadventures of a College Girl
by Lauren Rowe

Here’s a funny story, I think I like this author! Her two contributions to the Misadventures series are my two favorite stories so far. Zooey Cartwright is a college freshman who is determined to give up her V-card at the beginning of the semester of her freshman year. She doesn’t want a boyfriend. She and her roommate attend a football party, after her roommate glams her up a bit, of course, where Zooey meets Tyler Caldwell.
Tyler Caldwell checks off all the boxes she’s looking for: cocky, not interested in relationships, and definitely has a reputation for making the sex great for the gal, too. After some intense making out on the dance floor, they head up to Tyler’s room, where Zooey accidentally lets it slip that she’s a virgin. Instead of sex, the two have a great conversation after which, Zooey leaves and vows not to see Tyler again.
Tyler has other plans and one of the best romances in the history of romances unfolds. I have found that over time, I tend to despise books where stupid misunderstandings happen to tear the characters apart. This book doesn’t have that. We have two incredibly motivated people on different paths, who are destined to shine.
Okay, so Zooey is a theatre major, just like I was. Only, she’s incredibly gifted, whereas I’m not. Hey, I can handle it – I didn’t get my dream to act but I also made a lot of decisions to stay in my safety zone. Partially because I knew that I wasn’t good enough at acting or pretty enough to make it. I’m old enough now to be happy with those choices, but even so, this book about an aspiring actress who does have the chops and motivation to make it was enjoyable.
I loved all of the contributions by Lauren Rowe from the series and I’m starting to read her other books. Both of these are wonderful stories that are well written and hit every button on the perfect fantasy with a superstar.

Misadventures with a Professor
by Sierra Simone

I wasn’t sure if I’d like this one or not, based on the description, but wowee, this book is hot. Zandy Lynch is going to spend the summer in England to help an old professor friend of her father’s with whatever academics do when they aren’t teaching. She’s managed to snag one night in London where she’s planning to lose her v-card. She’s managed to hang on to it until she’s 22 (no shame, friends, but you know, it’s a common premise used in the virgins seeking sex genre for a virgin to be trying to lose it). She heads out on a really rainy night to find a man who is willing. She runs smack dab into Oliver, literally.
Of course, their attraction is blazing hot, even in the cold summer rain. Zandy manages to convince Oliver to come back to the hotel with her, where professor and student games happen. Zandy discovers she loves being spanked. Oliver discovers that Zandy (who he currently knows as Amanda) was a virgin. Cue self-loathing for spanking a virgin. She consented and liked it, so the reader doesn’t need to feel ashamed for enjoying it right along with her. The next morning, Oliver wakes up alone and continues his weekend plans in London, before heading home late Sunday night.
Where he discovers that Amanda is Zandy Lynch, the woman he agreed to work with all summer. And Zandy discovers that old, stodgy, Professor Graeme is actually young, smoking hot Oliver.
This book is full of hot professor and student play and it is hot, hot, hot. In fact, the only thing that bothers me about this book is that we never discover how Zandy became the nickname for Amanda.

Misadventures with a Manny
by Toni Aleo

I liked this book a whole lot more than I expected to like it and I can always appreciate that from a book! Vera’s husband ran off with the nanny, married, and impregnated her. This leaves Vera raising her three boys while trying to hold down her job. Enter Lincoln, a manny whose family moved to Germany and decided that they wouldn’t be bringing him along. Linc already knows Vera’s boys and the transition goes amazingly well. Until Linc and Vera can’t keep their hands off each other.
While I get super annoyed with bad relationships with exes that use the kids as pawns in their stupid games, I managed to enjoy this story so much. I adore Vera and Linc together and the way the story unfolds. In fact, the drama with the ex-husband and the backstory add to the story rather than being annoying side show crap.
I do want to say that while I enjoyed both of the books this author wrote for the misadventures series, I despised what I’ve read of her other work. I managed to read one complete book and 85% of the other before I decided that the main characters (mostly the women) were far too hateful to continue (in the second book, the mom threatens to hit her kid more than once, which is a big fat NO for me, on top of the character being a general jerk). So, my advice for this one, is stick to her stuff from the misadventures series so you don’t have to suffer the same massive disappointment I did.

Misadventures on the Rebound
by Lauren Rowe

Here, we meet Savannah Valentine, who goes by Savvy. Except Savvy isn’t savvy at all. This smart lady loses her job and boyfriend in one day, just before setting out for her high school reunion in Las Vegas. Throwing caution to the wind, she ends up in bed with a stranger.
That stranger is Aiden MacAllister. He’s hot and pretty amazing… and he’s also an ex-con. He’s on his way to Vegas when his motorcycle breaks down. He’s on a crucial mission that he doesn’t know how he’s going to pull off. And he knew as soon as he sees Savvy, that he’s going to convince her to give him a ride to Vegas.
But really, he doesn’t have a clue what he’s in for.
I liked this book. It had some pretty heavy themes and this Ocean’s Eleven thing going on, making it pretty far fetched… but how is that different from the fantasy of a regular person with a billionaire, rock star, or other unobtainable person? Even with the heavy themes, I found it fun. The only thing I found to not be my favorite was near the end during the incidents at the high school reunion, though it did wrap up a loose end. It’s a hot one, with a one-night stand turning into more. It has one of my all time favorite proposals, too! Plus, there’s a tie in to a book mentioned above (Misadventures on the Night Shift).

Misadventures of a City Girl
by Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss

This is the first book in the series and the first book I read of the series. They are all definitely standalone and you can read them in any order, which is great!
Madison Atwood, freshly divorced from her Hollywood hotshot husband, heads to a swanky retreat in California in order to figure out what the heck she wants to do with her life and escape the paparazzi for bit, too. After arriving, she ends up wandering in the woods and stumbles across a secluded hot spring pool. She sheds her clothes and dives in.
Luke Dawson, mountain man and guy who keeps to himself, discovers her as she’s taking care of her wanton needs in his full view (she’s pleasuring herself, if that needed clarification). Let’s fast forward from that hotness to the two getting snowed in at his secluded cabin together where they succumb to a night of passion – where love starts to bloom. This is a romance novel, after all! There’s always a happy ending.
I did enjoy this book as a pleasant story where two opposites find a way to meet in the middle. It also happened to be the first book I read that included play of the anal variety and I was surprised to find that within a romance novel. It is a great first book to show that the series isn’t going to at all be what we’ve come to expect from romances. It’s a great read and I recommend this book!

I’ve been impressed with this series, in that every book I’ve read has been well written and compelling. The sex scenes are there to move the story along and not just there to be a sex scene. I love smut novels and I thinks these are some of the best smut novels I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Please note, there is absolutely no judgement in my use of the word smut. I’ve been a fan of romance since the first one I stumbled across when I was a late teen. I recommend hardcore romance fans pick up a few of the Misadventures series for their reading pleasure.
